The message title is: Abby's Loving Prayer. When Abby was just a sophomore in high school, she and her mom heard on the news about a young man who was seriously injured in a plane accident. The accident devastatingly took the lives of his father and stepmother. Although they didn't know this person, Abby's mom said, "We just need to pray for him and his family." And they did.
Several years later, Abby walked into a classroom at her university. A student offered her the seat next to him. That student was Austin Hatch, the plane crash victim who Abby and her mom prayed for. Soon the began dating and were eventually married.
Abby said in an interview before they were married, "It's crazy to think that I was praying for my future husband." It is so easy to limit our prayers to our own personal needs and those who are close to us, without praying for others we don't even know or world issues.
The apostle Paul wrote to the Christians at Ephesus and told them to "pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kind of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people". (Ephesians 6:18). Also, 1 Timothy 2:1 tells us to pray "for all people," including those in authority.
Let's pray for the students who will be going back to school, the teachers, the academic staff, the parents, those who are ill and suffering along with the medical team and family who cares for them, those who are lonely, depressed, worried, stressed, those battling addiction, the elderly, our nation and leaders, the world and others plus issues we aren't even aware of. Let's Pray! This way we can cover and carry each other's burdens, praying for safety, healing, prosperity and love. You never know whose life will be impacted by your prayers.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, please open my heart to the needs of those around me and even people I don't even know. Take my heartfelt prayers and intervene for them as only You can do. Please be with us, have mercy on us and surround us with Your love.
Scripture verse: 1 Timothy 2:1 I urge...that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
Wishing all of you many blessings!
In Peace and Love,
Brenda
