The message is: Choose Hope! Millions of people all over the world suffer from depression after the holidays and in places with limited sunlight due to short winter days and cold temperatures.
As we long for warmer weather through the dark days, our hope in God can break through even our darkest days and seasons of life. The prophet Micah confessed this while enduring a heart wrenching season as the Israelites turned away from God. As Micah assessed the bleak situation, he lamented that "not one upright person" seemed to remain.
Yet, even though the situation seemed futile, the prophet refused to give up hope! He trusted God that He was at work, even as devastation surrounded him and he didn't see any evidence.
As we face dark and seemingly endless days or seasons of hopelessness, we face the same struggle as Micah. We all have a choice- either to give into despair or wait and trust in hope for the Lord.
Our hope in God is worthy. He is bringing a time when there will be no more mourning, pain or suffering. Until then, may we trust in Him, proclaiming with praise, "My hope is in You!"
Prayer: Dear God, during difficult days and seasons in life it is easy to become discouraged and feel despair. In those moments, please help me place my hope in You. Use me as Your instrument to share with others the peace found in life with You.
Scripture verse: Micah 7:7 But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord.
