Happy Summer & Happy Father's Day!

I wish everyone a safe and happy summertime:) Also, to my dad, all of the father figures, stepdads and grandpa's a Happy Father's Day! I am so thankful and blessed to still have my father whom I love so much.

The monthly message is "The Power of Prayer!" A dear friend recently sent me a video clip of a true story of Peter Richley in 1820. A man who hadn't seen his mom in 10 years, got on a ship to sail from Australia to England. The ship was sunk and everyone on board died except Peter who was stranded in the ocean and rescued by a second ship. The second ship also encountered storms and was shipwrecked and he was rescued by a third ship. This ship was shipwrecked and he was stranded out at sea. A fourth ship picked up Peter and experienced storms and also wrecked. A fifth ship picks up Peter and this ship wrecks too! The sixth ship that picked him up was sailing from England to Australia and was called the City of Leeds. Peter was very sick and went to the doctor on the ship. The doctor asked him if would pretend to be this woman's son. The woman was very sick with a high fever and was on her deathbed. She kept waking up saying "Oh Lord, Oh Lord, please let me see my son before I die. Please let my son give his life to the Lord." Peter walks into the room and he hears the woman mumbling. As he gets closer to her and hears her mumbling, "Oh Lord, Oh Lord please save my son," he recognizes the voice as HIS mother!  His mother was dying and Peter didn't have to pretend to be the son, he WAS the son. He grabbed her hand and said "Mom, it is me Peter! Her eyes opened and her fever left her immediately!  He told her that he had been through 5 shipwrecks and didn't know how he ended up on the ship that she was on. She said, " I was coming to see you" and he said "I was coming to see you!"  He told her that he wanted to give his life to the Lord and she got to watch her son give his life to the Lord. This story affirms that God will orchestrate even the shipwrecks of people's lives so don't stop praying!  God hears you...

Scripture verse: Colossians 4:2 (NIV) reads: "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."
