Happy Thanksgiving!

There is still a lot of clean up to be done including road repairs in our area from Hurricane Helene and nearby areas. Everyone still affected by the recent hurricanes are being covered in prayer and are not forgotten. Tragedy definitely puts things in perspective that we often take for granted. As Thanksgiving approaches, we thank God for our many blessings and all of our family and friends for their love and support over the years.

Thank you to everyone who supported our September campaign by raising funds for pediatric cancer cure research. One fundraising event rolled over into November but thanks to "YOU" we raised over $8,000! We give God all the glory!

Even though Childhood Cancer Awareness month ended in September, unfortunately, cancer has not ended for children who are battling and those who will be diagnosed each day with this horrible disease. They need your ongoing support, now more than ever, especially during these unprecedented times.

The MONTHLY MESSAGE is: "LET'S STAND UNITED"

Abraham Lincoln, the Republican candidate for the US Senate from Illinois, on June 16, 1858, delivered his famous "House Divided" speech. It highlighted the tensions between various faction groups in America regarding slavery. An arousal of emotions stirred among Lincoln's friends and adversaries. Abraham Lincoln felt the importance of using the "house divided" speech that Jesus used in Matthew 12:25 because it was widely known and simply expressed. He purposely used this metaphor "so it would hit home to the minds of men making them aware of the dangerous times they were living in."

A divided house cannot stand but an undivided house stands in unity. This is what the house of God is designed to be (Ephesians 2:19). Though made up of people from various backgrounds, together we've been reconciled to God (and each other) through Jesus' death on the cross. The apostle Paul, in light of this truth, instructs believers in Jesus to: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3).

Times of tragedy, like the recent hurricanes, unite us and display that first and foremost, we are Americans, putting aside our political stance, and helping each other in times of need. This is one of our core values and what makes our country so great- the love and compassion towards humanity.

Different views of the Presidential candidates heightens tensions that threaten to divide our families, friends and fellow believers who are otherwise united. However, God can impart wisdom and strength for us to live in unity with one another through the help of the Holy Spirit. With the Presidential election this week, it is crucial that we first pray, seeking God's wisdom upon us to make the best decision for the future of our country and generations to come. Also, no matter the selected President, it is imperative that we move forward united, not divided, in love, for the well being of our nation.

As Thanksgiving approaches, let's reflect in gratitude for the many blessings of friends, family and opportunities we have in this country, the greatest country in the world, that are often taken for granted- food, shelter, clothing, rights, freedoms and many opportunities that other countries don't have. Let's always be thankful for God's many blessings and endure in His love towards each other.

We are the United States of America, a land of freedom and opportunities that were paid at a heavy price. We can move forward towards a better future for all of us, no matter what happens, if we remain united. Regardless, we will always have hope in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ that is eternal! May God bless the United States of America!
